Where to get close to the ocean

The magnificent coast around Denmark was once attached to Antarctica and feature some of the oldest rocks in the world in a tumble of boulders, crevices, reefs, bays, and pools.

Some beaches have dangerous rips and king waves, so be careful! See here for information on rips

Most beaches do not have a rubbish removal service, please keep the beaches clean and take your rubbish home with you.

Dogs are prohibited in William Bay National Park, beaches in the park are identified by the notation (ND) below.

Ocean Beach features great surfing for all levels and walking, bird watching, swimming, fishing or just soak up the scenery. The beach is patrolled by Denmark Surf Lifesaving Club during summer school holidays. The Club also operates a kiosk during the season.

Greens Pool (ND) is the iconic Denmark beach, a sheltered, natural swimming pool of clear emerald water offering snorkeling, scuba diving, and safe swimming. Elephant Rocks is a short walk to the east and a beach walk to the west takes you to Mazzoletti and Parry beach.

Greens Pool is a spearfishing free zone.

Madfish Bay (ND) is a hidden wonderland of pools and offering sheltered swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, fishing, and exploring.

Waterfall Beach (ND) features a freshwater stream gushing from the dunes, tumbling over rocks and into the sea. Good for children.

Lights Beach is for experiences surfers and fishers. The rock pools are great for kids and dogs are welcome! The Bibbulmun Track passes above the beach and offers fabulous views!

Lowlands Beach is a secluded beach with a freshwater creek flowing across squeaky white sand. There are viewing platforms offering a spectacular panorama of the ocean and cliffs, and chances of seeing dolphins and whales.

Shelley Beach is where dramatic rocky headlands plunge to the sea and offers spectacular views, fishing, camping, and varied flora and fauna. It’s a favoured location for hang-gliding and paragliding.

Cosy Corner is for sheltered picnics, swimming and fishing with seasonal camping under the peppermint trees.

Parry Beach, 25 kilometres west of Denmark, is very popular for beach and rock fishing, walking, surfing, 4WD and more! There is also camping right next to the beach among the peppermint trees, with toilet and shower facilities.

Peaceful Bay, 44 kilometres west of Denmark, is a wide, sheltered bay offering safe swimming, boat launch and fishing for herring, silver bream, whiting, salmon and rock species. The Peaceful Bay Caravan Park has a shop featuring their famous fish and chips.
