Denmark’s business community came together for another lively Denmark Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours, this time hosted at Nullaki Distillery on Mount Shadforth with co-hosts Artisan Brewing, Rockcliffe Winery and Stillers Rest
Set high in the Denmark hinterland, Nullaki Distillery looks across Wilson Inlet and the Nullaki Peninsula towards the Southern Ocean. It is a spectacular location and provided the perfect setting for an evening of networking, introductions and plenty of conversation. The evening included tastings and refreshments.
New member John Overton from Ground Up Hire introduced his new venture and local Bushfire Ready representatives talked about the importance of business preparedness and response, ahead of the upcoming fire season.
Chamber members had the opportunity to learn a little more about the whisky-making process. One of the interesting takeaways from the evening was that to make whisky, you first need to make beer, with barley wine of around 15% part of the process before distillation.
Nullaki’s whisky is produced using Western Australian ingredients, including Great Southern barley, barrels sourced from premium WA wine regions and water from the property’s natural spring. Its spirit is double distilled through a unique copper still crafted in Tasmania.
Adjoining the distillery is now the newly opened restaurant Stiller’s Rest. It is open from 7am Wednesday to Sunday and like the cellar door is tastefully furnished and very inviting.
Ann and Jeff, managers of Karri Mia and Stillers Rest, introduced themselves and spoke about the restaurant.
The distillery’s cellar door is open from Wednesday to Sunday.
Dianne Harwood was the lucky winner of a whiskey gift pack.
